Tip This Content

Herbal medicine is derived from the flowers, fruit/seeds, leaves, stems, and/or roots of various plants used for medicinal purposes for centuries.

Herbs work best when taken in combination with other herbs. When adding herbs to your list of supplements, it is recommended you take two or more for best effect.

The first herb we are going to cover is St. John's Wort (SJW) . SJW is generally used as an anti-depressant but it has several other uses. Of greatest concern, however, is the fact that SJW is an MAO-Inhibitor. This is a dangerous class of drugs that cannot be taken in combination. If you are taking an MAO-Inhibitor or planning to, please read up on St. John's Wort. This article covers the cautions that should appear on the packaging and don't.
